Deepavali crackers

Plan for three days, not one night. Keep a garland and some single sounds for the first morning, put most of the budget into sparklers, flower pots and chakkars for the Amavasya evening, and hold back a repeater cake for Balipadyami. Sparklers are what families run short of.
Mysuru Dasara crackers
September or October, over the ten days of Navaratri
Go light for the nine nights: sparklers, flower pots and chakkars for the children on the gombe rounds. Keep a garland for Ayudha puja and a couple of sky shots for Vijayadashami. Dasara sits a few weeks before Deepavali, so plenty of families order once for both.
Sankranti crackers
Mid January
Think small and many. Novelties, chakkars and sparklers for the children, a garland for the morning, and that is enough. Anything left over keeps, sealed, for Ugadi.
Ugadi crackers
March or April, on Chaitra Shuddha Padya
Keep the list short. A garland, a few boxes of sparklers and a handful of flower pots cover Ugadi, and the rest of a minimum order sits sealed until the next festival.
Christmas and New Year crackers

Build around midnight. One or two repeater cakes for the stroke of twelve, a few sky shots, and sparklers to pass round when the year turns. A garland at the gate is enough for Christmas morning.
